Course Clusters

Tailor your anthropology curriculum to your own intellectual interests and life pursuits!

In this section we have clustered Anthropology courses around topics that students at UVA have found intriguing and popular, such as Native American Studies, Globalization, or Illness and Health. These topic-clusters are those that emerge frequently in conversations with students.

This is our way of showing how a course, whose title might not make a self-evident connection, nevertheless relates in exciting ways to the larger topic. Furthermore, sometimes students want to study a topic in all its depth and from many angles. Anthropology, with its several distinct subfields, approaches all topics from many perspectives.

We also invite you to look at the pages: Geographical Research Foci and Topical Research Clusters to see the research interests and specializations of the UVA Anthropology faculty.
